Choiroke is a concert platform that brings together a diverse range of choirs from across Surrey and Sussex for a one-night only, choral spectacular that encourages and features the enthusiastic participation of the audience.
The first Choiroke concert took place at The Hawth in Crawley, West Sussex, in 2010, debuted at Dorking Halls in Surrey in 2012 before returning to The Hawth in 2013. We then returned to Dorking Halls in 2014, 2015 and again in 2016.
The special extra in 2015 was our first ever Schools' Choiroke in the afternoon and following its success we produced another School' Choiroke in 2016. In 2016 we themed our concerts for the first time as they took place on 23rd April the theme was St George with patriotic songs, flag waving and a red and white balloon drop.
In 2017 our Schools' and Adult Choiroke events were held for the first time at The Harlequin Theatre in Redhill. Our theme was "Singing.....The Movies". The theatre had the full red carpet treatment and Sponsors had a star in the "Walk of Fame" and a fantastic evening was had by all.
Every choir taking part has the opportunity to showcase themselves by singing three songs of their choice – but one must be a Choiroke number so the audience can join in. The concert opens and finishes with the choirs singing together. The finale features at least two, powerful and spirited Choiroke numbers to ensure the evening ends on a high.
Together, the choirs and the audience put on their own synergetic extravaganza. The format is the same for our School choirs. For more information please do contact us via this website.
