Schools’ Choiroke is a concert platform bringing together school choirs from across Surrey and Sussex for one performance only. It is an opportunity for school choirs to sing together with other local school choirs (massed choir) as well as showcase themselves in front of a large audience. The audience gets to join in and sing with each choir once, as well as joining in the massed choir finale numbers. These are called the ‘Choiroke’ numbers and are great fun.
Our third Schools’ Choiroke is taking place on Saturday 10th June 2017 afternoon at 2:30pm at The Harlequin Theatre in Redhill, Surrey. We still have a few places available so should your school choir be interested in taking part, please do contact us via this website.
Choiroke with adult choirs has been going since 2010 – our 7th concert is now being planned for the evening of 10th June 2017 at The Harlequin Theatre in Redhill. On the 23rd April 2016 Choiroke and Schools’ Choiroke took place at Dorking Halls with a patriotic St George’s Day theme. It was a resounding success. This year our theme is ‘film music’ so our massed choir numbers will be songs from films and we ask that each school sing at least one song from a film – these of course can be Disney songs for example. Each school is asked to perform 3 songs of their choice, one of which will be their ‘Choiroke’ number where the audience will join in and sing with them.
It’s a great experience and children in the school choirs who have previously taken part have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is extremely well organized and lots of fun is had by all.
