Surrey Hills Young Voices
The Surrey Hills Young Voices is proof that there are young people in the Surrey Hills who still think it is cool to sing in a choir! These youngsters are full of enthusiasm for singing and love to request songs. Open to singing all styles of songs, they particularly enjoy popular, musical and gospel styles and love to dabble in a bit of choreography!
Through the songs they enjoy, we teach the skills of singing technique, singing in harmony and general musicianship in order to become valuable adult choral singers of the future.
The choir is already gaining a reputation in Cranleigh where we rehearse. The choir performed at the Ewhurst Polo club in the summer of 2011 and were also one of the highlights at the Cranleigh Music Festival in 2010. Each year they join the two Surrey Hills adult choirs for a family Christmas concert, which has become a sell-out the last two years. We are proud to be part of the same group as the Surrey Hills Chamber Choir who are the current reigning national Adult Choir of the Year.
We are an independent choir and have members from Dorking, Capel, and Cranleigh and the surrounding villages. Only two-thirds of our choir are here today, but they enjoyed last year so much they were determined to attend. As lovers of singing, please help to encourage our youngsters to sing by spreading the word about our choir.
