The Horley Singers
The Horley Singers is a mixed choir or about 35 members. The choir was formed by the late Edwin Skaer in 1998, through his passion for music and singing. The choir performs at least two public concerts a year and receives numerous invitations to take part in charity events and sing to local groups and organisations. Its varied repertoire is designed to appeal to a wide range of musical tastes and includes both modern and classical pieces.
The choir’s musical director, Richard Cartmale, brings a wealth of experience, not only as a conductor, but also as a composer and vocal and instrumental musician. During a very successful singing career, Richard was a member of the English National Opera until 2007. He has been the choir’s musical director since 2008.
What the choir said in 2010:
“The Horley Singers is thrilled to be performing in this first Choiroke event with other choirs from across Surrey and Sussex being brought together for the first time.”.
