Epsom Male Voice Choir
The Epsom Male Voice Choir was founded in 1983 with Nigel Brooks the notable composer, arranger and broadcaster as its first Musical Director. Our present MD is Neil MacKay.
Following an active recruitment drive earlier in the year there are now 58 of us. Our repertoire spans all kinds of music from opera through the traditional male voice choir repertoire to rock-and- roll.
In addition to concerts in local venues, we undertake civic duties in Epsom, participate in local charity functions, regional massed male voice concerts and support the Royal Marsden Hospital in its “Celebrate a Life” service at Christmas. We make regular visits to Epsom’s twin-town of Chantilly in France.. We were also invited to be the opening choir at the South Bank Centre’s “Chorus Festival” at the Royal Festival Hall earlier this year.
As far as numbers are concerned our line is “the more the merrier”. So if up till now you felt you might like to have a go at singing but were a bit too shy to take the plunge why not come along and join us one Wednesday evening in Epsom and see if you like it. If you enjoy doing your Pavarotti thing in the shower you’ll probably fit in very well with us.
What the Choir said in 2010:
“We are delighted to be participating with the other choirs in this Choir-oke event in the Hawth Theatre as the first of many opportunities for us to sing together and bring our part of Surrey into closer contact with our choir friends in Sussex”.
